You Review movies: Bob Higbee

What is your favorite movie you have seen recently? Why?

We watched “Australia,” and I liked it, but my wife really liked it. It’s an epic — we rented it and watched it at home, but we should have gone to the theater and seen it on the big screen. In a way, the whole movie is a sales pitch for Australia, the country.

What is your favorite movie genre?

I like comedies and I like dramas. I like to buy movies rather than rent — so I own about 100 — “When Harry Met Sally”, “Uncle Buck” on the comedy side, “Goodfellas” and “Casino” as an example of the dramas. I also like a good documentary.

What is your all-time favorite movie?

I think you would have trouble coming up with a better movie or series than the “Godfather” movies. The acting, the look of it, the way they put together the story of generations are unbeatable.

Do you think movies today are getting better or worse?

I believe the best movies are still in the future. There are some pretty smart guys out there making films, so I think they keep getting better. My gauge is, Would I want to watch it again? If I would, I’ll probably buy it.
