MARCO ISLAND — Publix Super Market on Marco Island manages to keep it cool Monday as it becomes an all-day effort with a 70-ton capacity crane replacing several large air conditioning units from the roof.
It was about an eight-hour process for crane operator Kenny Brass to bring several large air conditioning units off the roof of the Publix near the corner of North Collier Boulevard and Elkcam Circle and then to replace them with several new units.
Publix was open throughout the replacement and many people passing in vehicles and on foot gazed up to see what was causing the commotion and changing the Island skyline.

The equipment being changed out were not air conditioners but refrigeration condensers. The condensers are for the refrigerated cases. They are being change out in conjunction with the remodel under way at this time.
