VIDEO: Missing 4-year-old's decade-old cold case heats up as authorities dig in SWFL backyard

Video from NBC-2

— Investigators searching for evidence related to missing 4-year-old Pilar Rodriguez will focus their efforts on one particular canopy in the backyard of a Charlotte County home Wednesday.

Deputies said they are optimistic about that particular area of the property yielding evidence. Rodriguez went missing in early 1999, when her babysitter, Melissa Cooper, took her on vacation near Punta Gorda.

Pilar was last reported to be alive at the Trail Apartments outside Punta Gorda, where she and Cooper were staying with Cooper's boyfriend, Keith Wilson. Now, nearly 10 years later, the nationwide search for Pilar has come full circle.
