‘Love on Naples Beach’
68 by 40 inches, oils on canvas
Where in Southwest Florida do you live? My studio is in Old Naples behind my home.
How long have you been working in this medium? I have been working in oils on canvas and on paper for the past 13 years. Often I will use large oil Sticks to draw my image, as they have a very intense color.
Tell us about yourself. I have exhibited my paintings at the gallery at the Art Institute of Chicago as well as many galleries in Southwest Florida over the past 10 years, after leaving Chicago. My work is mainly abstract, in large-scale pieces. I love to use the vibrant colors and light of Florida, and most of my work is from my imagination, and very
instinctual. I use expressive strokes and am very active in my paintings’ abstract expressionism.
Studies: I studied at the Chicago Art Institute and am continually taking workshops to broaden my ideas and techniques.
What do you like about this work? This painting is ”Love on Naples Beach,” a romantic fantasy in beautiful hues of the Gulf. I often do a Naples painting in between my abstracts, for fun.
Where can people can see your art? My work is being shown at Sweet Art Gallery at 2054 Trade Center Way, Nov. 13, with a reception 5 to 7 p.m. on Nov. 14, and throughout the remainder of November. Sweet Art represents my work and various paintings are always there.
