Florida Division of Forestry officials are conducting a 275-acre prescribed burn this morning in Picayune Strand State Forest south of Interstate 75 off 52nd Avenue SE.
The burn is being conducted to thin out vegetation in the area, Division of Forestry spokesman Victor Hill said.
Winds should keep the smoke south from I-75, and weather forecasts predict that much of the smoke will disperse though residents to the south and west of the burn may see smoke in the area.
