Art League of Bonita Springs: Chopin, youth pottery and jewelry on the slate

November is here, and although there isn’t a crisp, cool, nip in the Florida air, there is an anticipation of the upcoming holidays.

At the Art League of Bonita Springs a new block of classes is beginning and will run through mid December. This means that many artistic gifts could be created in plenty of time for the holidays.

Adult and children’s pottery classes are always popular, and students create several pieces during the term.

Fused glass classes too can present an opportunity to create ornaments or decorative gifts.

For those not wanting a long five- or six-week commitment, several mini-classes will be held at the beginning of December. These are mostly jewelry-making classes.

During the first week of holiday break, several full-day classes will be held for children. Parents or grandparents wishing to enroll students can call to find out more specifics.

“These all day classes are great for parents who need to shop, create holiday dinners, pack for a trip,” said Jordan Smith director of Children’s Education. “The arts and crafts that we do will be those that can be completed that day so they will be able to take them home with them.”

If taking a class isn’t your cup of tea, perhaps attending one of the many upcoming Live at the Promenade! shows is.

Master of the keys Richard Bosworth will pay tribute to Chopin on Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 7:30 p.m. In anticipation of the mast composer’s bicentennial birthday celebration, Bosworth will perform Chopin’s captivating solo piano music.

Bosworth has toured around the world and the U.S. including performances at Lincoln Center and the White House.

On Nov. 14 a much different evening is planned for Live! When Naples City Improv takes the stage. Audience members are encouraged by the group to offer suggestions, play theater games and participate throughout the show. The show begins at 7:30 p.m.

The annual Arts Worldwide event will take place on Saturday, Nov. 14 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Promenade at Bonita Bay. Artists from many cultures will be performing musical, dance and theater while visual artists give demonstrations. There will be art stations for both children and adults to learn and create art with instructors. The event is free, with a $2 donation requested.
