The Art League Marco Island’s Center for the Arts harkened to its past in hopes of securing its future during the sixties themed 40th anniversary “The pARTy” Saturday night.
The 60’s themed party gave guest a chance to dress in their hippest clothing and reminisce about the influence The Art League has had on them and the island.
Guests were treated to a stroll down memory lane as they read about the history of The Art League Marco Island’s Center for the Arts. The mood of the night was set by DJ Michaelangelo as he spun tunes from the 60’s. Attendees took turns using their artistic vision to arrange the 40 individual 12-by-12 inch canvas panels that make up the “Collaborative 40, “a contemporary art installation. One lucky guest’s name will be drawn randomly to make the final configuration.
The Art League also opened the Charles M. Wetzel Retrospective, depicting the private world of the Seminole Indians during the 1950s to 1970s in addition to works representing Marco Island and its wildlife. The exhibit is open to the public and runs through Nov. 24. Admission to the faculty and exhibit are free, however donations are accepted.
