Thanksgiving activities heating up

The month of November is speeding by (as all the months seem to do these days) and everyone’s attention is on the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. The Greater Marco Family YMCA has great programs to offer children and adults during the weekend and here is the list for you to peruse.

Thanksgiving Camp Drop in Days is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 25 and Friday, Nov. 27. The Camp hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Mini Camp will be held at the Y and cost is $20 for Y members and $25 for others. Bring a bag lunch, sunscreen, bathing suit, towel and sneakers. Camp is open for K- 6th grade.

Do you find shopping difficult with your children? Do you need to catch those Black Friday deals, but don’t want the kids to see their holiday gifts? Well, great news, the Y will be hosting our first Black Friday Drop in Program! Your child will enjoy a day of play as you make your way from sale to sale. The child care staff will take care of your children and provide age appropriate activities. All participants must be registered by Nov. 24. The date is Friday, Nov. 27, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. The fee schedule for 2-5-year-olds is $25 for Y members and $30 for others. For K- 5 grades, Y members will pay $15 and only $20 for others. Bring a healthy lunch and wear sneakers. For additional information about either program, please call Stephanie Pepper at 394-3144, ext. 203.

How would like to learn how to shop online for gifts and more? Make plans to attend the class to be offered on Tuesday, Nov. 17 and Thursday, Nov. 19. This class will teach you how to use search engines, researching product Web sites and how to pay online. The class will be offered in portable C from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The cost is $35 for members and $50 for community members.

I am happy to announce a new program at the Y, Private Yoga and Pilates Personal Training. Invest in your “spirit, mind and body,” by purchasing time with a certified personal trainer specializing in Yoga and Pilates. The program will focus on muscular balance, strength, flexibility and core stability. Member and non-member rates are available. All sessions must be paid in advance. For more information, call Jennifer Bristow at 394-3144, ext. 222.
