The U.S. Coast Guard is responding to two divers missing off Sanibel Island.
Lee County Sherriff's Office is also assisting with its aviation unit, officials said.
The Coast Guard is heading to the area where the divers were last seen – about 3.5 miles south of the Sanibel lighthouse.
The person running the 30-foot vessel that the divers left from made the call to 9-1-1. Emergency dispatchers received that call just before 4:15 p.m.
Since 4:20 p.m., the US Coast Guard Fort Myers Beach Station has been on scene searching for two divers, ages 45 and about 47, whose vessel had drifted away from its position off of Sanibel Island, Coast Guard official said.
A Coast Guard official said the diver's boat boat anchor came loose.
The name of the divers have not been released.
Also on the scene were two boats from Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
