Florist latest addition to the Art League

Businesses in Support of the Art League is one of the five on going programs to Save Marco’s Art League to eliminate the Leagues $100,000 debt.

The program chairman, Dave Rice, a past president of the Chamber of Commerce is optimistic that Marco Business owners will respond to the call, said Rice.

“The Art Leagues existence has a tremendous financial impact on property values and business. Property owners and business owners expect our city to have first class services such as police, fire, medical, shopping and culture. Take away any one from the equation and Marco is not the attractive destination we want it to be”.

The Business in Support of the Art League encourages businesses to provide financial assistance to the Art League as a partnership, with business and the league both benefiting.

Rice explains, “We are encouraging businesses to offer special shopping days whereby a percentage of sales would be donated to the Art League or the sale of special items. Service businesses are encouraged to become a partner by offering a donation to the Art League for every new customer they obtain in a given period of time.

The Marco Island Florist, owned by Joe and Nancy Carrington is the latest local businesses to join the 45 businesses already participating. With the purchase of any Angel in the store, $1 is donated to the Art League. Art education and art appreciation for the children of Marco are a major part of the role of the Art League. The Carrington’s are also sponsoring the “Holly Berry Bowl,” a children’s coloring competition with the first place winner receiving a free session of Art Adventure for the Art League and a $75 Visa Gift Card. Other awards include for second place a fun filled Holly Berry Bowl and for third place a fun filled kids basket.

Pick up the entry form at the Florist at 178 South Barfied Drive. While there, purchase tickets for the Monthly 50/50 Raffle to be drawn at the First Tuesday After 5 Socials at the Art League at 1010 Winterberry Drive. Last months lucky winner Paula Robinson’s prize was $501, a ticket purchased at Iberia Bank.

Shop Marco First is encouraged and the 500 members of the Art League are notified of all the Leagues Business Partners and encouraged to shop at those businesses.

All in all, good for business and good for the community as we Save the Art League.

Businesses wishing to become Art League Partners are to contact Dave Rice for information and procedures at 250-2175 or e-mail at
