A Bonita Springs fitness director died Monday from injuries he sustained in an early morning motorcycle crash on Sunday.
Joey Kundtz, 34, lost control of his Harley Davidson around 2:30 a.m. Sunday as he approached San Carlos Boulevard on U.S. 41, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report. His bike entered the road's median and struck a sign, the report stated.
Kundtz was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition as of Monday afternoon. According to NBC-2, Kundtz was in a coma with extensive brain swelling. Kundtz was the fitness director at the Commons Club in the Brooks community in Estero, the broadcaster reported..
According to FHP Trooper Kamau Leigh, he was cited for careless driving, and for not wearing helmet, based on insurance requirements, NBC-2 reported.
Toxicology tests are pending, the Highway Patrol report stated.
