VIDEO: Courier injured during armored truck robbery; Lee deputies looking for two suspects

Video from NBC-2

— One man was sent to a hospital with injuries and two suspects are being sought after an armored truck was robbed at a south Lee County bank Monday afternoon.

A courier in the truck was struck in the head with a firearm during the confrontation, according to Lee County Sheriff's Office spokesman John Sheehan.

Deputies are looking for two Hispanic men, both described as being in their 20's, between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall, 160-170 pounds, with normal length black hair.

Sheehan gave the following account:

A Brinks armored truck was making a routine stop at a Fifth-Third Bank near the intersection of Treeline Avenue and Daniels Parkway at 4:46 p.m. when the suspects confronted the driver and courier.

The suspects were armed, and the courier was injured during the confrontation.

The suspects then left the scene in an older model red car, which Sheehan said was either a Grand Prix or a Grand Am.

Investigators with the agency's robbery unit are processing the scene and interviewing witnesses, Sheehan said.
