When they compile the list of local heroes for 2009, make sure Adolfo Garcia of Immokalee is there.
He tells NBC-2 he was driving by with his family early Sunday when he noticed smoke and fire at a mobile home.
He says he stopped, went to the trailer door and pounded on it to alert the only two occupants — children, ages 4 and 7 — to get out of there.
Garcia calls it the result of being a naturally curious person and God giving the children a blessing.
For now, we congratulate Garcia and share his joy in the children’s safety.
Still, we have questions that we trust investigators share, starting with how the fire started and why the children were there alone at 6 a.m.
