Are you ready to win one of the big pots of money leftover in May? Are you ready to eat a delicious kosher hot dog with all the extras? Are you ready for the opening of the JCMI bingo on Monday? Are you ready to yell “bingo!” again for the 11th season on Marco?
The bingo committee of the Jewish Congregation of Marco Island is ready to open the 11th season of bingo at the synagogue. Co-chairpersons Sue and Dr. Harold Baum state the committee is eagerly awaiting for the doors to open on Monday evening, for this 11th season and plan special prizes and foods through out the 30 Mondays of bingo to May 3.
The chairpersons will tell you they were warned, when they started, that no one would come to help them put on the bingo. At the end of the first season, some two dozen persons had worked faithfully each Monday. It was at the end of the first season that the Baums decidee to reward their workers with a bright yellow apron, with the Bingo logo and each worker’s first name in bright blue. Since the opening, three dozen workers have been trained to conduct the game and operate the computerized equipment.
Several pots of money have yet to be won, left over from last season. The Committee hopes there will be lucky winners on Oct. 5.
A free kosher hot dog with sauerkraut, relish, pickles and chips is ofered to each player without charge on Monday. Pastries, fruit, cofee and tea are also offered without charge.
Bingo is played every Monday evening through May 3, at the synagogue, located at 991 Winterberry Drive. The doors open at 6 p.m., bonanza is posted at 6:15 p.m. and the game is called at 7 p.m. For more information call the synagogue office at 642-0800.
