Here’s a beauty. Made in 1968, it shows Vanderbilt Beach looking toward North Naples, with Bonita Springs not far off the upper left. Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park would be at lower left today, and The Dunes condo complex to its east. Naples Memorial Gardens is at upper right. Homes and condos now occupy the cleared, dredged areas. Yes, the beach lot just south of Delnor-Wiggins used to host the Vanderbilt Inn, which has given way to the Moraya Bay high-rise. Photo courtesy of Yvette and Greg Whitaker of Naples, from the collection of their late father, Les Whitaker, who was a prominent local Realtor.
