The Southwest Florida Council, Boy Scouts of America is pleased to announce the appointment of Greg Graham as the Council’s new chief executive officer, officially called Scout Executive. Graham has 25 years of experience in Scouting and has successfully served for the past seven years as the Scout executive in the Central North Carolina Council in Albemarle, NC. The Southwest Florida council now serves over 39,000 youth across Charlotte, Collier, DeSoto, Hendry, Lee, Manatee and Sarasota Counties. The program encourages youth to pursue their special interests, make new friends, develop leadership skills, and give back to their community. The Hispanic Affairs Advisory Board of Lee County has confirmed that the Honorable Randy Henderson, mayor-elect for the City of Fort Myers, will address the citizens of Lee County at their 10th Annual Hispanic Achievement Awards and Hall of Fame Banquet. Henderson was elected as the new mayor for the City of Fort Myers after having served over nine years on City Council. He will assume his new position on Nov. 16. The Hispanic Achievement Awards are sponsored by the Hispanic Affairs Advisory Board and will be presented at a banquet to be held Tuesday, Oct. 6, from 6 to 9:00 p.m. at the Broadway Palm Dinner Theater, 1380 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers. The Hispanic Achievement Awards seek to recognize those persons who project a positive image of the Hispanic community on a daily basis, while overcoming cultural, language, economic, health or other barriers. The awards also honor those persons who open lines of communication and bridge the differences between cultures.
