NAPLES — The Okaloacoochee Slough State Forest in Hendry County is planning a series of adventures Saturday for visitors.
Events are set from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the state forest about 13 miles southeast of Labelle on County Road 832.
Visitors will be able to tour the state forest on foot or in vans, touch an attack firefighter bulldozer, spray water out of a fire engine, see animals that live in the state forest, touch plants and learn about destructive plants and animals, learn how to identify and plant trees and shrubs and play games.
The event is part of Get Outdoors Florida!, an effort to encourage families to explore outdoor places available throughout the state.
