Lee County man accused of starving bull dog

A North Fort Myers man was arrested on animal cruelty charges after animal control officers found an emaciated bull dog on his property.

Eugene Hoppe, 34, was arrested by Lee County deputies Wednesday afternoon.

Lee County Animal Services says they found the dog, named Lilly, infested with fleas and unable to walk without stumbling.

Hoppe is charged with Third Degree Felony Animal Cruelty, which is punishable by up to five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.
