I think it’s a little early to be giving a man a prize like that. For nine months of work so far? And, let’s face it; we’re still looking for some effects of what he’s done. So, I don’t know, I just think it’s a little too quick. And, I hope they’re not trying to make up for not giving him the Olympics in Chicago. It’s the same people, you know. They went to Copenhagen two weeks ago. He put himself on the line, saying he was going there to get the Olympics for Chicago, and we were the first ones knocked out. I’m from Chicago and split my time between my home here and up there, and I can’t help but feel they are trying to make up for that now.

I think it warrants a great congratulation. It’s something to be very proud of, for all of us. It’s acknowledgement of our nation’s willingness to join the rest of the planet to reach an understanding with other cultures and different ways of thought. We don’t have to be quite so insular in our pride. I am a registered independent; that keeps me invited to all the parties.

I really didn’t even know that a president could be a candidate, as a politician, as opposed to a private person. I just found out from the Internet yesterday. I think it’s great, for the president to earn such an honor of distinction. I’m sure there were other people who were very well qualified to win this award, and that it was a difficult selection process. I would think it was a hard choice, and this president is involved in so many things, anyone would have been a surprise, whoever was chosen.

Last US president to get the award was............Jimmy Carter.
We all know how great of a president he was....

MarcoDan, I believe the peace prize was won for actually doing something in the case of Carter. Carter won it for arranging Sadat and Begin to meet at Camp David and knock out a peace treaty between Israel and Egypt. We pay Egypt 2 Billion a year to stay at peace. Sadat was later killed by Muslim extremists.
