Hometown: Marco Island
Occupation: Operations specialist, Marco Island Executive Airport
Education: Tommie Barfield Elementary; Lely High School; Embry Riddle Aeronautical University of Daytona, Florida; bachelor of science in aeronautical science, minor in business
Marital/Family Status: Single
How he got to Marco: My parents. I grew up here.
Favorite thing about Marco: Boating and jet skiing; going to Keewaydin Island with friends is a lot of fun. That’s where everybody goes, and I go as often as I can.
Lessons Learned: I have a pilot’s license. Flying is nice, because you can go anywhere you want, and it’s much faster than anything else. Many times after work, I’ll fly down to Marathon or Key West for dinner with friends. Or, we’ll go down there for the weekend and go lobster fishing or scuba diving. The beauty of it is, you can be in another state in just a few hours, versus with a car, you have to deal with the traffic. My friends and I have been doing this since college, every weekend and almost every night.
Favorite quotes: ‘One mile of road will take you one mile. One mile of runway will take you anywhere in the world.’
‘When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it.’
