Collier County Awarded Federal Stimulus Funds to Support Energy Efficiency and Conservation Efforts
Collier County has been awarded $3,036,000 through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) to support the county’s energy efficiency and conservation activities.
The U.S. Department of Energy’s Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program was funded for the first time by the Recovery Act. It is providing $3.2 billion in total funding for the EECBG Program to more than 2,300 cities, counties, states, and Indian tribes nationwide to help them improve their energy efficiency, reduce their energy use and fossil fuel emissions, and create green jobs locally.
The grant money received by Collier County will be spent on eight projects:
· Facilities Management Energy Savings Retrofits $ 665,510.00
· Parks and Recreation Green Lighting System Retrofits $665,811.00
· Public Utilities Energy Savings Retrofits $149,000.00
· Public Utilities Renewable Energy Solar Photovoltaic Panels $139,960.00
· Traffic Signalization Improvements $542,999.00
· Collier County Master Mobility Plan $473,476.00
· Children’s Museum of Naples Energy Savings and Renewable Energy Projects $250,000.00
· Green Building Codes Inspection Training Program $41,921.00
The remainder of the grant funds - $107,322.50 - will be used to cover administrative costs.

On October 15, 2009 the Collier County Planning Commission (CCPC) directed staff to add the CCPC review of the modified Transportation Component to the 2009 AUIR to the agenda for the CCPC continued review of the 2007/08 combined cycle of Growth Management Plan amendments. Therefore, notice is hereby given that the Collier County Planning Commission will meet Thursday, October 29 at 8:30 a.m. in the Board of County Commissioners chambers, located on the third floor of the W. Harmon Turner Building, Building F, Collier County Government Center, 3301 E. Tamiami Trail, Naples.
The meeting is open to the public.
