City Manager Steve Thompson announced in a prepared release Thursday evening that traffic delays are expected on Friday on Bald Eagle Drive as the city completes a shared-use pathway project made possible through grants
The contractor working on the Shared Use Pathway will be installing asphalt paving on Bald Eagle Drive from the entrance to the Health Center to the intersection at San Marco Road.
This paving will benefit both the pathway and will improve water drainage at the intersection of Bald Eagle Drive and San Marco Road.
The paving operation will begin at around 9 a.m. and will continue until about 4 p.m.
The contractor will be providing numerous traffic control personnel to direct traffic through the work area.
During this paving, traffic will be reduced to two lanes, one in each north and south direction for the majority of the day.
As the paving operation completes a lane, striping will follow immediately and if possible that lane will be opened to traffic.
City crews have relocated the electronic message sign to provide some advance warning and that alternate routes should be used.
The Health Care facility will only be affected for short periods as the equipment moves across the entrance. Fire vehicles
may find that the turn from San Marco to northbound Bald Eagle may be a little tight, but should not hinder their response.
