After reading the letters about paying for two law enforcement agencies on Marco Island and then the letters about parking tickets. Then the article that Marco Island “You’re in good hands.” I wonder?
Average Marco officer experience is 17 years. What kind of experience? As I was getting gas, at the 7/11, I saw 7 cars run the stop signs. Maybe they know no one will be around to enforce the law about stopping at a stop sign. I drive on Collier and cars drive by me like it’s a race track. I don’t see any law enforcement during the day as I travel around town. Does parking tickets come to mind?
The “reason” is here and we have some of the “worst” drivers I have encountered and with more drivers now it will be getting worse. The drivers I see are some of most inconsiderate drivers and must think everyone else knows what they plan to do while driving.
Is it safe to drive here on Marco with some of these drivers not caring and think traffic laws don’t include them or maybe they know no one is going to give them a ticket, or they know someone?
The drivers don’t signal, as they should, when changing lane or turning, according to the laws, or has that changed. Coming to a complete stop at stop signs and then proceeding has been a law as long as I have been driving.
Just had to vent my opinion. If you feel I’m incorrect, just park near an intersection and watch. Now, to paying for two law enforcement agencies? I’m paying their salaries and I expect them to do their job.
