PUNTA GORDA — A 59-year-old Punta Gorda man is accused of sexually assaulting a 18-month-old baby girl and the mother of the child was involved, according to the Charlotte County Sheriff Office.
Glenn M Nelson, 59, was arrested Tuesday and charged with charged him with capital sexual battery, and lewd and lascivious molestation on a child under 12 years old. The sheriff's office report Nelson was the child's mother's boyfriend.
Charlotte County investigators, searched the mother’s Port Charlotte home, and found files and chat sessions between the mother and Nelson discussing having sex via webcam with her baby, according to a press release.
Detectives said their investigation revealed Nelson and his girlfriend engaged in sexual acts with her child since the girl was born. Photos were taken on numerous occasions and also sent to Nelson’s home computer and his workplace, which were recovered for evidence.
Nelson remains at the Charlotte County Jail on no bond. The baby was originally turned over to the Department of Children and Families, and is now in the custody of a relative.
NBC-2 interviewed Nelson in the Charlotte County Jail and he said he the allegation is not true.
Nelson did admit to talking about sex with the baby on the webcam.
"It's all in there all the time about fantasies - not reality, that was happening. It was fantasizing and talking about it," Nelson told NBC-2.
MCU detectives say more charges are expected in this ongoing case; specific details about the mother are not being released at this time.
When NBC-2 asked the Charlotte County spokesman Robert Carpenter if she could be arrested he said, "Oh, most likely, yeah. But there are complications to her arrest and that's as far as we will go with that right now."
