COLLIER COUNTY — The Collier Clerk of the Circuit Court’s Department of Finance and Accounting has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.
It's the 23rd year the office has won the national award given by The Government Finance Officers Association, an impartial panel that recognizes governments for demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" that clearly communicates its financial story to the public.
"The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management," said Collier Clerk of Court Dwight Brock.
The Chicago-based non-profit association, which serves 17,500 government finance professionals, reviews budgets submitted by governments throughout the United States and Canada. The award involved the office's Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2008. The City of Naples and the Naples Airport Authority also won awards this year.
