OCALA — A central Florida woman has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for fatally striking a pedestrian while driving under the influence.
A Marion County judge sentenced 37-year-old Jennifer Staebell last Thursday to the maximum time allowed under the law.
Prosecutors say Staebell had cocaine and a mix of prescription drugs in her system when she hit Robert Hall in February 2008. A jury convicted Staebell of DUI manslaughter in August.
Staebell’s attorney had asked the judge to suspend the woman’s sentence to help preserve her family. Staebell has two children.
