10-22 Oktoberfest

The Village on Venetian Bay will hold its annual Oktoberfest celebration from 5 to 9 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 22. The event will feature authentic German delicacies and live Oktoberfest music, performed by The Cats. Artichoke & Company will offer freshly prepared ethnic foods, including bratwurst, latkes, stuffed cabbages and more. 10-23 Hilton Halloween

Because Halloween isn't just for little kids, experience the Royal Palm Ballroom of the beautiful Naples Hilton Resort as it is transformed into an eerie gathering, filled with ghoulish potions, delectable dining and lively entertainment, from 8 to 11 p.m., Friday, Oct. 23. This is a fundraising event for Florida Athletics Cheer and Dance, benefiting children in our area who would otherwise not be able to participate in athletic programs. A silent auction and prize drawings will be held for Best Costume, Best Mask, Best Couple and more, with entertainment by DJ Chance. 10-24 Strut Your Mutt

The Shelter for Abused Women & Children and Humane Society Naples presents the second annual Strut Your Mutt, Naples' premier Halloween pet costume contest, from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, October 24, at Germain BMW of Naples. All entrants receive a gift bag and prizes will be awarded to the winner and runner-up for Most Original, Best Homemade, Scariest, Funniest, Best Owner/Pet and Best Group (two or more pets). One grand prizewinner will receive a professional portrait with their pet, one year of free pet food, courtesy of Hill's Science Diet. 10-24/25 Swamp buggy races

The famous Naples Swamp Buggy Races will held at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 24 (time trials) and Sunday, Oct. 25 (Budweiser fall Classic), at Florida Sports Park. Swamp Buggy, Inc. a nonprofit corporation dedicated to raising funds for area charities and civic organizations produces the races. Tickets are $6 for the trials and $17.50 for the race in advance for persons 12 and older or for $20 at the gate. Kids get in free. Advance ticket orders must be placed prior to 5 p.m. Saturday. 10-29/30 Bump in the Night

At the Conservancy of Southwest Florida Halloween event, “Bump in the Night,” kids will encounter some of our scariest creatures up close and learn the mystery behind the “ghost owl.” Tour the “spooky” Conservancy Discovery Center and listen to the animals’ spine chilling shrills and slithering sounds. The night ends with a web of ghost stories and frightening folk tales around a campfire. Cost is $12 per person for Conservancy members and $15 for non-members. An adult must accompany children. 10-30 Halloween cruise

Enjoy a fun-filled Halloween cruise aboard the Naples Princess, for an opportunity to sail into the Naples bay and the Gulf of Mexico among the skeletons, ghouls and ghosts, with heavy hors d'oeuvres, Ghoul Punch and spooky drink specials there will be prizes for best costume.
