Just in time for Halloween comes a delightfully squeamish show that will have children and adults cringing with laughter. Fantasy Theatre Factory of Miami will bring their special formula of props, music, narration and hilarity as they present “Little Monster Tales” at 1 p.m. today, Oct. 24.
The play stitches together five tales of monsters, ghosts, naughty children and creepy-crawly-creatures.
The tales come from well-known stories like “Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde” by Robert Louis Stevenson.
To create a ghoulish atmosphere, those wishing to dress in costume, may do so.
In order to get everyone into the spirit of Halloween, volunteers from the Art League of Bonita Springs will help children create creepy monster arts and crafts prior to the show, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The play will be held at the Art League’s live performance space at The Promenade at Bonita Bay located at 26811 South Bay Drive, Suite 170.
Tickets to the show are $3 for children and $5 for adults, and are available at the door, or by reservation by calling the Center for the Arts at 495-8989.
Destination Dance Company Auditions
When: 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5
Where: Center for the Arts, 26100 Old 41 Road, Bonita Springs
The Art League’s Destination Dance Company is holding auditions beginning Thursday, Nov. 5 at 6 p.m. The Dance Company, taught by choreographer and dancer Jennifer Biedron began in June of 2009. The group is focused on technique and performance rather than competition.
“One of the most beneficial things about our new group is that we are young and new on the dance scene,” Biedron said. “We have a unique opportunity to present something to the community that doesn’t necessarily follow what other dance groups are doing.”
Those wishing to audition should prepare a short routine and call the Art League to schedule a 15-minute audition time for Nov. 5. An alternate date can be arranged.
The dance team is a collaborative effort between the Art League and the dance company. There is no fee to be on the dance team, however the Art League asks each dancer to pay the $25 annual student membership fee which entitles them to discounts on other programs and events.
“The class can be a good portfolio builder for dancers going into high school or college,” said Jordan Smith, Children’s Education Director. “The performances are good exposure, and the Art League can provide photos or video for dance resumes.”
