The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office arrested a 26-year-old mother on Thursday and charged her with sexually assaulting her 18-month-old baby.
The mother, who the Daily News is not identifying to protect the child’s identity, was arrested in connection to a sex charge for her boyfriend, Glenn Nelson, 59 of Punta Gorda.
The mother, who lives in Port Charlotte, is charged with capital sex battery on 18-month-old, capital battery-principle lewd and lascivious molestation, possession of child pornography, use of a child in a sexual performance, lewd exhibition, lewd or lascivious conduct.
Charlotte County investigators, searched the mother’s Port Charlotte home, and found files and chat sessions between the mother and Nelson discussing having sex via webcam with her baby, according to a press release.
Detectives said their investigation revealed Nelson and his girlfriend engaged in sexual acts with her child since the girl was born. Photos were taken on numerous occasions and also sent to Nelson’s home computer and his workplace, which were recovered for evidence.
Nelson remains at the Charlotte County Jail on no bond. The baby was originally turned over to the Department of Children and Families, and is now in the custody of a relative.
