Editorial: Collier jail chief ... good work here makes Salley smart choice to go over there

Congratulations to Scott Salley of Naples. The leader of Collier County jails for 11 years, Salley has been invited to join 11 of his American colleagues on an international goodwill and information-sharing mission to South Africa.

The corrections system there wants to “Westernize,” and Salley says he is ready to answer any and all questions.

It is an honor for him — and his community — to have been chosen to be part of the delegation.

Those of us who know Salley and his work believe this isn’t just deserved; it’s overdue.
