University of Florida freshman Lauren Embree of Marco Island and partner Allie Will lost in the semifinals of the Wilson/ITA Southeast Regional in Atlanta on Sunday.
Embree, a Lely High School graduate, and Will beat Florida State's Lauren McCreless and Francescca Segarelli, 8-3, in the quarterfinals earlier Sunday. Miami's Gabriela Mejia and Laura Vallverdu defeated Embree and Will, 8-4, in the semifinals.
“Miami was the more aggressive team and found a way to hurt us,” UF coach Roland Thornqvist said. “We were able to counter late with some adjustments and that got us back in the game, but they did a good job of closing us out.”
