The headlines are troubling. They say health-care officials’ planning for a swine-flu epidemic goes so far as to plan for hard decisions if local hospitals get jammed and overwhelmed.
The draft plan says patients fighting flu would be given priority over the terminally ill or accident victims deemed too injured to recover.
Heavy stuff.
But so is the whole swine-flu matter.
We would rather see worst-case-scenario planning being done now than have hospitals and other health-care providers improvising amid crisis.
Also, we believe the community would rather know about it than wonder if anything is going on behind the scenes.
We are eager to hear anything and everything our public health officials have to tell us about the swine flu.
