If Rachael Klein had her wish, every young child would be screened for Amblyopia or “lazy eye.”
It is the most common cause of vision problems in children, and constitutes the loss of one eye’s ability to see details.
Klein, a long-time advocate for screenings on Marco, along with retired pediatric opthalmologist Howard Freedman, will on Oct. 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. offer free screenings for young children in the community room of Marco Community Bank.
The founder of the Marco Eye-land Eradicate Amblyopia Foundation, Klein
says her passion to eradicate amblyopia keeps her busy and self-rewarded.
The free eye screenings are intended for infants, toddlers and pre-school children.
Registration forms are available in the MCB lobby, or by calling Klein at 642-6657.
