Police briefs: Naples resident attempts to run down Marco youth with truck

Aggravated assault, driver attempts to run down juvenile bicyclist

Police reported that Hal Hiott Lusk IV was driving his truck in the area of Marco Lake Drive and Bald Eagle Drive and attempted to run down a juvenile at about 4:30 p.m., Oct. 22. Several witnesses reported to the police that Lusk’s truck hit a ditch and then he fled the scene. There were no injuries, police reported.

Lusk, 18, of 2810 39th Ave. NE, Naples, was found a short time later. He was charged with aggravated assault and taken to jail.

Theft of bicycle

It was reported that a bicycle worth about $100 was stolen at the intersection of San Marco Road and Balfour Drive between 2:35 p.m. and 6:05 p.m., Oct. 22.

Leaving the scene of a crash involving damage, unlicensed driver

Police responded to vehicle accident located near the Judge S.S. Jolley Bridge, close to 1400 Collier Boulevard, at 2:48 p.m., Oct. 24. When they arrived they found only one of two of the drivers involved in the accident. Jose Eduardo Guzman Gomez, 30, of 644 6th Ave., Marco, struck a vehicle driven by Kimmie Jawan and then fled the scene. Gomez was located a short time later and charged with leaving the scene of an accident and driving without a valid license. He was taken to jail.

Driving while license suspended

Police stopped a vehicle for a traffic offense at 400 South Collier Blvd., at 10:38 a.m., Oct. 25. Nichol D. Thomas, 23, of 4270 Jefferson Ln., Naples, was charged with driving with her license suspended. She was taken to jail.

Vandalism to vehicle

Gustavo Silva reported that someone caused about $500 worth of damage to his vehicle while it was parked at the Marco Marriott Beach Hotel, 400 S. Collier Blvd. between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Oct. 21.

Criminal arrest warrant

Eric Thomas Duckworth, 29, who police said had no address available, was arrested at the Chevron Station at 1095 N. Collier Blvd. at 4:37 p.m., Oct. 26. He was wanted for an active criminal arrest warrant out of Collier County. He was taken to jail.

Theft of purse

Linda Scealf reported that her purse was taken at the Marco Marriott Beach Hotel on South Collier Boulevard between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., Oct. 26. Total estimated value of loss is $80.
