Music’s in the air on one popular downtown Naples street.
Naples City Council on Wednesday renewed live entertainment permits for two Fifth Avenue South restaurants.
City Council voted 6-1 to renew Paddy Murphy’s Irish Pub, 457 Fifth Ave. S., live entertainment permit.
The approval means the pub may have no more than two performers from 7 to 11 p.m. and no more than one performer between 11:30 p.m. and 1:30 a.m. Monday through Sunday.
Councilwoman Dee Sulick cast the dissenting vote.
Council voted unanimously to renew Bice Ristorante’s, 300 Fifth Ave. S., live entertainment permit for two years.
The restaurant can have no more than two indoor amplified performers playing instruments between 5 and 11:30 p.m. Monday through Sunday.
Both permits expire in 2011.
Naples City Council also voted Wednesday to allow Vergina Restaurant, 700 Fifth Ave. S., to have outdoor live entertainment. The decision, however, limits how late the restaurant can have outdoor entertainment because of city code.
According to a draft of the resolution, the restaurant will be able to no more than three musicians indoors, with the doors and windows open, from 5 until 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and until 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
The restaurant can continue to have music indoors, with the doors and windows closed, until 11:30 p.m. seven days a week.
The restaurant originally asked to have amplified live entertainment outdoors until 11:30 p.m. seven days a week.
