Marco Island
We are going out on the boat, and having fun with the kids, which is what we do all the time, so the economy will not affect our plans at all. It will be the same as usual. We go to Caxambas, and go around the Island. We do a little fishing, and that’s it. We have four children. One’s in college, and three are at home. They bring their friends, and we bring a cooler with drinks and sandwiches, chips and fruit, and ice. We’ll have fun.

I’m a park ranger in Collier County, so the economy will affect my plans personally and professionally. I’m leaving for four weeks to visit relatives in Michigan. It will be a combination of business and pleasure, but this year I am delaying my plans until September 10th, to help the parks department accommodate our guests. On Labor Day, I will be here, working at Tigertail Beach. I decided to stay on, because we will be busier then, since we’re short on park rangers due to the economy. On weekends and holidays, we get a lot of visitors from Miami, and we do very well.

It’s definitely affecting me: I have to work. Normally, I don’t. I’m a juvenile probation officer at the courthouse. It’s just scheduling. More people are taking off, so I volunteered, because I can use the extra money. So, the economy is a factor. I’ll be working throughout the three-day weekend. My in-laws live here on the Island, and my wife and kids will do something with them. Unfortunately, I’ll be working.
