Man charged with attempted grand theft auto in North Naples

A Belle Glade man was arrested after deputies say he attempted to steal a car at a North Naples apartment complex early Thursday.

Collier Sheriff’s deputies received reports that a man was seen inside a car in front of 5530 Jonquil Lane rummaging through the items around midnight.

According to reports, Feloice Rivers, 22, told a witness that he was looking for a T-shirt, got out of the car and then started walking to another apartment building.

The steering column of the car had been removed along with the key cylinder. Items were strewn around the passenger seat, reports said.

Reports said deputies in a Collier Sheriff’s helicopter conducted an air search of a nearby wooded area, helping deputies on the ground locate Rivers behind a building, reports said.

Deputies also found a screw driver stem without the handle inside his pants pocket after Rivers was searched, reports said.

Rivers was charged with attempted grand theft auto, possession of burglary tools and criminal mischief
