Hoot's - Naples
563 E Elkcam Cir, Marco
Customers at Hoot’s Restaurant on Marco Island and in East Naples will be hard pressed to find anything on the menu for more than $10.
Rotating daily specials, which include pot roast and stuffed chicken breast, cost less than $9. One special is the combo salad plate, which includes a healthy portion of chicken, egg and tuna salads and a mound of lettuce and tomato in the center; dressing is on the side. It also includes a fruit cup of oranges and strawberries, all for $7.95.
“Today, I think people are looking for good price (compared) to value. Customers are looking for that coffee for $1.50,” owner Bruce Hayne said. “People are trying to stretch their dollars. We’re in the affordable — reasonable category.”
For under $5, patrons can fill up on a short stack of pancakes, or two eggs served with home fries or grits and toast, for breakfast, which is served all day long. For $5.50, you can order a Belgian waffle or French toast or create your own omelet for $6.75.
For lunch, patrons can get out the door for less than $8 by ordering any of six different salads, or enjoy a sandwich, like the chicken club, desert chicken or a Reuben. “We sell a lot of salads,” Hayne said. For $5.75, diners can savor some red beans and rice, served with salsa and homemade bread.
Hoot’s make most of the dishes on the premises, with quality ingredients. Hayne said a few of the cooks come in at 5 a.m. every morning to start baking bread. Since taking over the restaurant in July 2007, Hayne has strived to keep the place going in the same manner as the previous owner. “We just try to have a homey feeling and provide a friendly atmosphere, with great food,” he said.
