— Here is a timeline of events leading up to finding six people dead in a townhouse in North Naples.

■ Sept. 16, 2009, Wednesday evening — Mesac and Guerline Damas attend an anger management class together.

■ Sept. 17, 2009, Thursday 8:20 a.m. — All three Damas boys, Michzach, Marven and Maven, are present at Osceola Elementary School.

■ Sept. 17, 2009, Thursday shortly before 9 p.m. — Mesac Damas leaves his job at Miller’s Ale House in Naples.

■ Sept. 18, 2009, Friday 7 a.m. — Mesac Damas arrives at Miami International Airport.

■ Sept. 18, 2009, Friday 8:20 a.m. — Michzach, Marven and Maven Damas are logged as absent from Osceola Elementary School; an automated message informing their parents is sent to their home later that day.

■ Sept. 18, 2009, Friday daytime — Guerline Damas fails to report to work at Publix at the corner of Vanderbilt Beach Road and Airport-Pulling Road. Store employees reach her husband, who says she is sick and on the way to the hospital.

■ Sept. 18, 2009, Friday just before 10 a.m. — Mesac Damas boards a flight to Haiti.

■ Sept. 18, 2009, Friday 6 p.m. — Police conduct a welfare check at Guerline Damas’ home at 864 Hampton Circle in North Naples. They knock on the door and look for signs of trouble outside.

■ Sept. 19, 2009, Saturday 12 p.m. — A missing person’s report is filed.

■ Sept. 19, 2009, Saturday 6:30 p.m. — Collier County Sheriff’s deputies contact a relative with a key, enter the home and discover the bodies of Guerline Damas and her five children.

■ Sept. 19 and Sept. 20, 2009, Saturday night/Sunday morning — Mesac Damas’ GMC Yukon Denali is located at Miami International Airport.

■ Sept. 21, 2009 - Police in Haiti have detained Mesac Damas who is wanted for questioning in the slaying of his wife and their five children in Florida.

■ Sept. 22, 2009 - Mesac Damas is charged with six counts of murder.

■ Sept. 22, 2009 - Mesac Damas confesses publicly to killing his five children and wife.

■ Sept. 22, 2009 - Mesac Damas leaves on a commercial flight out of Point-Au-Prince, Haiti around 6:30 p.m. He arrives in Miami around 8:30 p.m.

■ Sept. 23, 2009 - Mesac Damas was booked into the Collier County jail at 3:35 a.m. Damas waived his appearance in court later that day. Public defender representing Damas plans to file a not guilty plea on behalf of his client.

■ Oct. 1, 2009 - Shelter for Abused Women and Children held a candlelight vigil to honor victims of Damas slaying and other domestic violence sufferers.

■ Oct. 3, 2009 - Funeral services for Guerline Damas and her children took place at First Baptist Church of Naples.

■ Oct. 14, 2009 - Mesac Damas indicted on six counts of premeditated murder.

■ Dec. 3, 2009 - State to seek death penalty against Mesac Damas.

■ Dec. 4, 2009 - Mesac Damas makes first public court appearance.

■ May 27, 2010 - Attorney assigned to Mesac Damas case leaves public defender's office.

■ May 27, 2010 - Michael Orlando, the attorney assigned to Mesac Damas case, leaves public defender's office.

■ Aug. 13, 2010 - Mesac Damas asks a judge to "throw the switch" in his death penalty case so he could join his slain family.
