The Art League’s board of directors has been diligently addressing the process to replace outgoing Executive Director Christine Neal.
At a special board meeting held to address this issue a decision was made to develop a search committee in an effort to perform a nationwide search for the replacement.
Director Maury Dailey was appointed as the chair for the search committee. In addition to Dailey, past Board members Barney Halaschak, Sandra Hill and Education Committee Chair Edythe Newbourne make up the initial committee that developed the proposed plan of action.
Dailey states, “We take this responsibility seriously. We are helping find the person that will steer the Art League for years to come capitalizing on what not only Chris contributed to the organization but what hundreds of members have done to make the Art League the center for the arts on Marco Island.”
The plan approved by the board of director’s on April 12, will include a nationwide search and outlines the following timeline: Posting of the position including the development of a recruitment brochure will be completed in April; applications will be accepted through May 31. Application review and recommendations for interviews will take place during the month of June with the intent to hire in July.
Dailey states, “This timeline will allow the committee and interview panel to take into consideration the efforts being put forth in the development of new business model requirements.”
The interview process will include creating a panel of 7 members including one newly appointed board member, past board members and Search Committee Chair Dailey.
During this transitional period, Linda Henell, current assistant to the executive director will serve as the interim executive director.
