The Marco Police Foundation is pleased to announce the election of William G. Morris as the organizations new president. An active member of the Foundation’s board of directors, his term officially commenced at the March director’s meeting.
Morris is an Island attorney with offices on Marco since 1983 practicing general law. He has been actively involved in community service since his arrival including president of the Art League of Marco Island, the YMCA, and the Marco Island American Cancer Society. His Board of Director responsibilities have included the United Way and the Marco Chamber of Commerce.
The Marco Police Foundation provides services to Police Department officers and the community including the neighborhood watch program and helping with crowd and traffic control during major Island events.
The Foundation assists officers and employees of the Marco Island Police Department in emergency financial situations and also maintains a scholarship fund for officers and their children. The Foundation is a 501(c)3 corporation formed in October, 2001, and currently has 170 members.
Additional Foundation officers include Vice President Richard S. Shanahan, Secretary Alicia Childs, Treasurer Kenneth J. Kubat and Executive Director Debra Sanders.
