Joey’s surprises Cocomo’s in City Softball

Joey’s Pizza upset Cocomo’s Grill, but it caused no change in the standings in the City Men’s Softball League.

Joey’s won its 10th game to go with seven losses, staying in third place. Cocomo’s, in second place, is 12-5, while idle Sand Bar/Integrity Insurance is safely in first at 20-1.

Here are the results in order of games played.

Sunset Grille, 12, Eli Contracting, 0

Sunset’s Mark Canady and Pat Baldwin ripped out three hits each, while Cory Banister and Rick Hanscom slapped out two hits each.

John Sally led Eli’s with two hits.

Joey’s Pizza, 15, Cocomo’s Grill, 14

Joey’s won in a real squeaker. Joey’s Dee Yearwood knocked out three hits, while Santo Gentile, Tony Oliverio, Vince Gentile and Brian Cooper added two hits each.

For Cocomo’s, Mike Watkins slammed out five hits, Kevin Hennings four, Sean Shea three and Scott Gibbs, Curt Witthoff and Neal Alberry two hits each.

DaVinci’s, 20, Nacho Mama’s, 5

Taylor Goldsmith led DaVinci’s with three hits, while Damien Shadrick, Mike Radlovacki, Mike Graczyk, Bob Natale, John Rihbar and Eric Sczcepanski had two hits each.

Nacho’s Kurt Busch and Kyle Prevett knocked out two hits each.
