PHOTO GALLERY: Naples knocks Lely out of playoffs

Naples jumped out to an early lead, winning easily over Lely, 12-0 in a semifinal game in the Class 4A-District 12 playoffs at Palmetto Ridge on Wednesday.

Lely got into the semifinal game by knocking off Immokalee, 9-1 on Tuesday.

Naples ace Jaclyn Traina started, but was quickly relieved after the Golden Eagles ran up eight runs in the second inning. Lely pitcher Lisa Feola gave up three straight walks then Naples’ Carissa Porter knocked all in with a double. Then Hilary Brown blasted a home run and Naples never looked back.

Naples plays Barron Collier at 7 p.m., Friday, for the championship at Palmetto Ridge. Barron upset No. 1 seed Palmetto Ridge, 3-2, to make the final game.

In the Immokalee game, Gabi Pozo tossed four innings and Feola the final three. Katie Hogan broke open the game with a two-run double.
