Pizza delivery driver shot in south Lee

A Lee County pizza delivery man was shot in the chest while making deliveries Monday night.

Lee County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Sgt. Stephanie Eller said Lee County dispatch got a call at 8:54 p.m. in reference to a man having been shot.

She said the victim, a delivery man for Jet’s Pizza in Estero Town Commons, had been driving near the intersection of Three Oaks Boulevard and Williams Road when he felt his chest hurt.

“He then noticed that he was shot and bleeding,” said Eller.

The man drove back to Jet’s Pizza, where someone called 911.

He was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital, but no additional information to his condition was available.

“It’s random and appears to be accidental,” Eller said.

Who shot the man or where he was shot remains a mystery, said Eller.

“Until they can locate the scene, they won’t be able to track down trajectory or anything,” she said.

However, Eller said it remains a very active investigation.
