PHOTO GALLERY: Knights break par in hosting golf event

On a beautiful, but windy day, 116 players vied for awards in the 36th Annual Knights of Columbus San Marco Council Tournament at The Rookery at Marco on Saturday.

Experience showed as Dave Stonier, Bob Dugan, Rob Pentico and Mike Weigandt, always in the top rung in charity tournaments, won with a low score of 56.

Finishing second were Mike Kelly, Mike Caporale, Joe and Jerry Guidish. Third place went to Tony Iannotta, Bob Holm, Gary Coar and Jim Bonfitto.

Closets to the pin winners were Ed Wagner and Joyce McDevitt, while longest drive honors went to Caporale and Jacquie Koon.

Dick Shanahan, a co-chirman for the event, said total funds raised will be about $10,000.

Shanahan applauded the efforts of the Rookery golf and club staff for putting on the quality event and the many donors who gave door prizes and provided silent auction items.

Members of the event committee included Shanahan, Stonier, Bob Wilcox, Lou Prigge, Joe Granda, Lee Cataldi and Ted Konuszy.

The next charity event is the Marco Eagle Open on May 8 at Eagle Creek. For more information on the Eagle Open contact Shanahan, 860-4354.
