Lee County Sheriff's Office investigates two bodies ...

— Two additional suspects in a Bonita Springs double homicide are in custody after their arrests outside the state, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Both suspects are being returned to the area on murder charges. A third suspect, Dustin McIntyre, 21, was arrested on similar charges last week.

Lisandro Resendiz, 21, was arrested Monday by Georgia State Patrol troopers near Valdosta, Ga. Colton Lance, 20, previously named as a witness in the case, was arrested at a relative’s home in West Warwick, R.I., on Sunday.

Both were arrested on two charges each of second-degree murder and kidnapping, as well as a charge of arson.

They are accused in the slayings of Daniel Leonor, 24, and Israel Ponce, 20, whose bodies were found inside a burning SUV on a rural Lee County road on Aug. 1. Detectives say the men were jumped, beaten and asphyxiated to death with plastic bags after approaching a Bonita Springs home to sell drugs. The bodies were placed in the SUV, moved and set ablaze, reports say.

Resendiz, Lance and McIntyre, 21, attacked the men from inside the home, detectives say. The Sheriff’s Office reports that kidnapping and arson charges are pending against McIntyre.

According to the agency, Resendiz was pulled over on northbound Interstate 75 outside of Valdosta, in south Georgia, for a traffic infraction. After giving a fake name, he was fingerprinted, identified and arrested, the Sheriff’s Office reported.

All three men hail from south Lee County — McIntyre and Colton from Bonita Springs and Resendiz from San Carlos Park — and all appear to have attended Estero High School.

Resendiz and McIntyre are documented members of a gang called Vatos Locos, and both have prior felony convictions. Lance’s prior record in Lee County is limited to a pair of citations for smoking cigarettes at school. He was cited once in 2007 and again in 2008.
