The Collier County Sheriff's Office and Isles of Capri Fire Rescue responded to a call of a vehicle in a canal Thursday afternoon. The initial response was to an area off U.S. 41 and Collier Boulevard, but was quickly corrected to SR 92, near U.S. 41 and found the vehicle in the canal, but no one was inside,
A vehicle in a canal resulted in the Marco Island Fire & Rescue responding to a location off SR 92, near U.S. 41 on Thursday.
The initial call of a car in a canal came at 2:42 p.m., directing Isles of Capri Fire Rescue and Collier County deputies to a location off Collier Boulevard, south of U.S. 41. The call came from a driver who saw the vehicle in the canal.
Marco Deputy Chief Chris Byrne said fire rescue divers from Marco and East Naples were used in a “dive operation. There was no one found in the vehicle and divers continued their search in an area surrounding the canal location. No victim was found.”
The Sheriff’s Department did an aerial search, but did not find anyone. The case was turned over to the Sheriff’s Department where no information was available at 11 a.m. on Friday.
