A shoplifting incident at Coconut Point Mall turned into a car chase on Interstate 75 that finally ended back near U.S. 41 in Estero.
According to Lee County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Stephanie Eller a shoplifting suspect took off from the mall and led Lee County Sheriff’s deputies on a chase before bailing from the vehicle.
There were no injuries and no crashes as a result of the chase, but Eller said that deputies are still trying to track down the suspect.
“It’s still a very active scene,” she said.
