NAPLES — "American Idol" finalist Diana DeGarmo was replaced by understudy Ryah Nixon in the role of Doralee Rhodes in Monday night's performance of "9 to 5: The Musical" at the Naples Philharmonic Center for the Arts.
DeGarmo was slated to sing in the role played by Dolly Parton on the 1980 comedy. Officials with the Philharmonic hope that DeGarmo will be able to resume the role Tuesday.
The singer, who was runner-up to Fantasia Barrino in the TV talent contest's third season, contracted bronchitis prior to Monday's performance, Philharmonic CEO Myra Janco Daniels said Monday night.
The Philharmonic previously canceled four performances of "9 to 5: The Musical" on Jan. 1 & Jan. 2 because of scheduling issues.
Tickets remain available for shows on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Tickets start at $89. Call (239) 597-1900, toll-free at (800) 597-1900 or e-mail customerservice@thephil.org.
