One of three wanted people in connection with an insurance fraud ring turned himself in to authorities on Thursday.
Elieser Valdes, 35, of the 11400 block of Whistlers Cove Circle, East Naples, was arrested and charged with scheming to defraud and fraudulent insurance claims.
Valdes is the 12th person arrested in the sting that involved four medical clinics, the culmination of a year-long investigation by the Collier County Sheriff's Office Organized Crime Bureau.
The accused are alleged to have paid people to stage or cause accidents and claim they needed chiropractic care. The clinics then charged insurance companies for the maximum amount for those treatments, though little or no treatments were performed.
